UPDATED 09/2/23, 3:36 p.m. ET: According to a member of his team, Pras did know about the upcoming Fugees reunion tour and will, in fact, be reuniting on stage with the other group members when the time comes.

‌"Contrary to TMZ, Pras Michel was well aware of the upcoming Fugees reunion tour. He, Lauryn, and Wyclef have been in communication about this tour since early summer," Pras' publicist Erica Dumas said in a statement to Complex. "As this is Ms. Hill's tour, Pras respectfully deferred any public comment until her team was prepared to make the official announcement. He is thrilled to be reuniting with his Fugees partners and looks forward to celebrating their music with fans across the globe. Any reports claiming Pras was unaware of the tour are patently false."

Pras says he didn’t know a Fugees reunion run was going to happen until “last week.”

Announced Aug. 22, Lauryn Hill is set to take her Diamond-certified classic The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill on the road for its 25th anniversary. The 17-date tour will see The Fugees reuniting and co-headlining on U.S. and Canadian dates.

When bothered by a paparazzo in Beverly Hills this week, per TMZ, Pras said he felt “blessed” to see the legacy of Hill’s album and Fugees’ The Score continue to grow. From there, Pras was met with a question about the possibly of new music being involved with the upcoming tour, prompting him to reveal how he first learned of the reunion.

"I ain’t even know this tour was happening until last week, to be honest with you. … I heard about it through the media," Pras said.

Asked to clarify, Pras noted he was “obviously” a part of the reunion but reiterated that he “just heard about it last week.”

Pras was also asked to provide an update on his heavily publicized legal situation (he was found guilty earlier this year in a foreign influence campaign and conspiracy case), though he pointed out he can’t discuss such matters other than to state that he’s “taking it day by day.”

When announcing the tour, Ms. Hill looked back on Miseducation as “a love song” to everyone from her parents to her “musical and cultural forebears.” Reflecting further, she remembered feeling "genuinely blessed" to have been given such a platform back in 1998.

"I felt a charge to challenge the idea that certain kinds of expression and/or certain kinds of people didn’t belong in certain places," she said in a statement released alongside a full rundown of anniversary tour dates. "I loved showing what could work or happen provided there was imagination, creativity and LOVE leading the way.”

In June, Hill reunited with Pras and Wyclef Jean for the first time since 2021 as part of the Roots Picnic festival in Philly.
