Lil Keed, who died at the age of 24 in May 2022, has now been confirmed to have died of natural causes stemming from eosinophilia.

As first reported by People on Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office made the determination, thus closing the case. In online documents available to the public, the manner of death is listed as natural, while the cause is formally listed as “sequelae of eosinophilia, etiology not established.”

Eosinophilia, per the nonprofit Mayo Clinic organization, means a person has a “higher than normal level” of a type of disease-fighting white blood cells known as eosinophils. The “etiology not established” clarification from the Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office in this case means that the cause of eosinophilia remains unknown. The condition, however, is said to “most often” be a sign of “a parasitic infection, an allergic reaction, or cancer.”

In May, following confirmation of Keed’s tragic and sudden death, his brother Lil Gotit shared a message to Instagram in memory of the YSL Records artist. “Can’t believe I seened u die today bro I did all my cries,” Gotit wrote at the time. “I know what u want me to do and that’s go hard for Mama Daddy Our Brothers Naychur and Whiteboy.”

It was later reported that Keed had complained of severe stomach pain in the days before his death. Rae Sremmurd, Cole Bennett, Alex Tumay, Doe Boy, and numerous others were quick to pay tribute to Keed in the wake of the news.
