YBN Nahmir is pushing back on Almighty Jay's claim that the YBN collective split because of gang activity.
In a video posted to TikTok, Nahmir addressed Jay’s recent comments suggesting their fallout stemmed from Nahmir moving to Los Angeles and “hanging around gangbangers.” The “Rubbin Off the Paint” rapper denied that narrative and said the real reason behind the breakup was far more serious and personal.
"Okay, if you gonna say that, let me say what the fuck it really is then," he said. "YBN broke up because Nahmir was hanging around gangbangers? No. YBN broke up because you did some foul ass shit, and almost got my mom killed, and I ain't say nothing about it on the Internet until now."
Almighty Jay responded to Nahmir's rebuttal by repeatedly mentioning an alleged incident where he was pistol-whipped and stripped of his jewelry in a studio earlier this year. Nothing is explicitly said about whatever it is that almost got him mother killed.
It's unclear what Almighty Jay is alluding to, in regards to Nahmir "bringing up shit that happened in 2019...I was 20, moving like a goofy." He didn’t directly address Nahmir’s claim about his mother but appeared to downplay the situation.
The two rappers, once part of the trio YBN (which also included YBN Cordae), rose to fame in the late 2010s before disbanding in 2020. Cordae distanced himself from the YBN moniker as his solo career took off, while Nahmir and Jay’s relationship appeared to deteriorate over the years amid sporadic social media tension.
While the exact incident Nahmir referred to remains unclear, his latest comments have reignited public interest in the group’s messy split — and suggest that behind-the-scenes issues ran deeper than fans initially believed.
