A little more than one year ago, Camila Cabello parted ways with Fifth Harmony, opening the door for a new chapter in her career as a solo artist. Today, this latest chapter reaches its apex with the release of her self-titled debut album Camila.
Back in May, the singer gave us our first glimpse at what we could expect from her as a solo act with "Crying in the Club." From that moment on, Camila was involved in one banger after another. Whether it was her appearance on Major Lazer's "Know No Better" or her own Quavo-assisted single "OMG," it became clear that Cabello couldn't miss. Then, she dropped "Havana" featuring Young Thug.
"Havana" has amassed a seven-week run atop the Billboard Pop Songs radio airplay chart, the longest stretch for a solo female artist since Taylor Swift released "I Knew You Were Trouble." Not bad for a song that faced considerable pushback prior to its release, according to the track's producer Frank Dukes. "Label heads and the people at radio told us this was not a hit when we first tried to put it out," Dukes wrote on Twitter.
