Bus Driver in Lil Wayne Shooting Reportedly Believes Birdman and Young Thug Struck Deals With Prosecutors

The bus driver involved in Lil Wayne’s bus shooting from 2015 is suspicious of Birdman and Young Thug’s part’s in the incident.

The driver, Alvin Lewis, believes that the two rappers struck an undisclosed deal with prosecutors and now he wants to know why they were never charged, TMZ reports. Court docs reveal that Lewis thinks it’s strange that Cobb County, Georgia prosecutors characterized Baby and Thugger as co-conspirators in allegations against the shooter, but were never indicted.

Lewis has claimed that there’s a vast amount of evidence that speaks to the collusion between Jimmy Winfrey, the purported shooter, and Baby and Thug, including phone call records, recorded confessions, and assurances of payment.

The driver says he suffered damages to his spinal cord, rotator cuff, and other psychological injuries in April 2015 when Weezy’s bus was targeted in Atlanta. Court docs reflect that Lewis has been kept in the loop about Winfrey’s case, but his questions about Birdman and Thug have gone ignored.

Winfrey is now being tried again after the Georgia Supreme Court overturned his conviction in 2017. Lewis has requested that the judge compel the Cobb County DA’s office to share anything pertaining to deals that the two rappers might have made with prosecutors.

Following the shooting, in November 2016, Lewis filed a lawsuit against Winfrey, Thug, Birdman, Cash Money Records, and Young Money Records for the mental anguish he endured after being caught in the crossfire. Baby denied any involvement.

In October 2018, leaked audio of a phone call between the Cash Money head and Winfrey surfaced and served as evidence in the shooting. At the time, a source told TMZ that the call was “in no way” related to the shooting. Birdman reportedly doesn’t even believe Winfrey was the shooter, and if so, Baby “would never associate” with someone who committed such an act.
