In a post shared on his Instagram Stories, Drake revealed his thoughts on sending voice notes among friends.
The 39-year-old rapper and father of one shared a screenshot of text that read, “I hate textn ppl and they start sending recordings take yo ass to the studio.” Alongside the screenshot, he wrote, “This is what knowing me is like… I’mma send that 8 min literature.”
We all know someone who prefers to send a lengthy voice note instead of texts, or even a quick phone call. It’s unclear if Drizzy is revealing himself to be a big fan of sending voice notes, or if he’s more likely to send lengthy texts instead. “Literature” would imply that he’s giving his friends something to read, but there’s always the possibility that he considers an eight-minute voice note the peak of communication.
Drake has seemingly been taking himself to the studio, however, with the long-teased Iceman on the way sometime this year. He teased that his next solo project, the follow-up to 2023’s For All the Dogs, would be coming any day last year, but it failed to materialize, even after he shared a number of new tracks.
He first revealed the number of the record in June last year, but by the time December rolled around he indicated that it was still being worked on. He dropped the single “What Did I Miss,” which is coincidentally the last hip-hop song to place within the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100, followed by “Which One” (featuring Central Cee) and “Dog House” (featuring Yeat and Julia Wolf).
There’s a lot of pressure on Drizzy to deliver a strong project following his heated beef with Kendrick Lamar. His rival went on to release the No. 1 album GNX, while Drake teamed up with frequent collaborator PartyNextDoor for a full-length collaborative album, which also went No. 1.
