Miami Dolphins have waived defensive lineman Kendrick Norton following a car accident that led to the amputation of his arm, TMZ reports. Earlier this month it was confirmed by Norton's agent Malki Kawa that the 22-year-old player had suffered multiple injuries in the car crash. Despite waiving him from the team, the Dolphins have agreed to pay his full salary for the 2019 season.

The amputation of Norton's arm has marked the end of his promising NFL career, but the Dolphins placed him on the reserve/non-football injury list over the weekend to ensure he still gets paid. He was scheduled to earn $495,000 this season, and now he'll still get that despite his current state. He's already gone through at least six surgeries since he was taken into hospital on July 4, and the NFL and Dolphins insurance policy has covered all of his care.

Norton was first released from hospital sometime last week, and has announced that he plans to get a prosthetic arm fitted.

In the days following his release, Norton has been using his platform to help organize blood drives to help those in need across the country. He also recently launched a YouTube channel.
