Complex and Spotify have teamed up for a new documentary podcast series focusing on the rise and eventual imprisonment of Florida rapper YNW Melly.
The “Murder On My Mind” rapper was heading for international success, but that all started to come crumbling down when he became the prime suspect in the murder of his two best friends, Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas Jr. and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams. He claimed the two were victims of a drive-by shooting, but authorities believe he and fellow rapper Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry were responsible for their deaths.
Ahead of the premiere episode of the season, the first trailer for the Spotify Original has arrived.
The latest installment in Complex and Spotify’s Infamous series of podcasts, The Story of YNW Melly is hosted by Ace Hood. The first two episodes will drop on September 27, with one per week set to release after that. In the first episode, we’re offered an introduction to Melly’s rise rise in the world of hip-hop.
The second episode, meanwhile, takes a look at the rapper’s upbringing, as well as “the school shooting that would set Melly on a path to go in and out of jail for years,” according to a synopsis of the episode.
