Future continues to push out new content ahead of Director X’s remake of the classic blaxploitation film Superfly. In a sleek new video for “No Shame,” Future and PartyNextDoor are joined by Superfly’s cast members Trevor Jackson of Grown-ish and Jason Mitchell of Straight Outta Compton, as well as Andrea Londo and Lex Scott Davis.
The music video was helmed by Director X himself, who is best known for putting together visually stunning, high budget music videos for everyone from Justin Bieber to Drake to Kanye West. It’s fitting that for his first major motion picture debut, X is using a cinematic music video to help promote the film.
The video follows the release of “No Shame,” as well as two other songs from the film’s soundtrack, “Walk on Minks” and “Bag.”
Following in the footsteps of Kendrick Lamar’s Black Panther soundtrack, Future is handling the entire soundtrack for Superfly, with the help of various guests. Future is also serving as an executive producer on the film itself. But he isn’t the only big rapper involved in the remake. The film will also feature Rick Ross and Big Boi showing up in small roles.
The original Super Fly soundtrack from Curtis Mayfield's original for the 1972 classic is a tough act to follow, but judging from the track list, Future’s attempt will definitely be full of some hits worth listening to. The Superfly soundtrack will feature guest appearances from Lil Wayne, Miguel, Khalid, 21 Savage, Young Thug, H.E.R., Gunna, and Sleepy Brown.
The soundtrack for Superfly comes out on Friday, and the film hits theaters on June 13.
