When it comes to the #MeToo movement, Cardi B doesn’t trust the “woke” men showing their support. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper explained why in her lengthy interview with Cosmopolitan for the magazine's April Issue. “These producers and directors,” she said, “they’re not woke, they’re scared.”

The cover star shared more of her thoughts on #MeToo, discussing how the movement excluded many women like herself. Becalis (Cardi’s given name) formerly worked as a stripper at New York Dolls before landing a role on Love & Hip Hop New York and kicking off her music career. In the interview, she explained how women outside of “commercial appeal” are often being ignored when they speak up about harassment and abuse.

"A lot of video vixens have spoke about this and nobody gives a fuck," she explained. "When I was trying to be a vixen, people were like, ‘You want to be on the cover of this magazine?’ Then they pull their dicks out. I bet if one of these women stands up and talks about it, people are going to say, ‘So what? You’re a ho. It don’t matter.'"

Cardi B doesn’t think "women with her background" will be given a role or respect in the movement anytime soon. That’s one of the reasons she often raps about her life as a dancer. “People say, ‘Why do you always got to say that you used to be a stripper? We get it.’ Because y’all don’t respect me because of it, and y’all going to respect these strippers from now on,” she said.

In other Cardi news, the artist recently announced that her debut album is dropping next month.
