Lil Xan has often spoken about how impactful Mac Miller has been on his career. Now that Miller’s family has revealed that a completed posthumous version of his album Circles—which Mac was working on before his untimely death—will be released soon, Xan shared that he’s known the name of the album for “dam near a year but wouldn’t say out of respect for everyone.”

He continued, “the fact this is dropping this month makes me wanna cry, This has made my whole fucking year and I wanna cry rn call me a bitch idc because it’s MOST DOPE FOREVER ! 412 BABYYYYY ! @macmiller @idlabsmusic Since 2009.”

Xan also shared a screenshot of the final DMs between him and Miller, before he passed on Sept. 7, 2018. On Aug. 2, Xan messaged Miller saying, “Bro so excited!” which seems to be a reference to the release of Miller’s album Swimming that dropped on Aug. 3. Miller replied with three swimming emojis and the message, “My guy.”

Xan messaged Miller again on Oct. 3, after his death, writing, “Miss you man.”

However, these weren’t Miller’s very last words to Xan. He revealed that the last thing Miller said to him was “Be safe,” which has since become the title of Xan’s tribute album to Miller that he’s been working on for over a year.

Miller was highly influential to Xan largely because of their similar struggles with substance abuse. Miller passed away from a fatal drug overdose, and Xan has since opened up about how losing his friends to drug-related deaths has him focusing on sobriety.

Circles is set to drop on Jan. 17, 2020.
