You'd be hard-pressed to find a more iconic duo in hip-hop than Missy Elliott and Timbaland. Missy's left-field, outer-space sensibilities slot perfectly into the megaproducer's minutes-into-the-future funk. And Missy announced that the dynamic duo are back at it, sharing a video of herself and Timbaland in the studio.

"Me & [Timbaland] last night in da stu...cooking," she wrote.

Missy has been out of the spotlight since her 2005 album The Cookbook. She shared last month that her sojourn reached a point where she felt like she couldn't return. Elliott said that she was worried that rap had passed her by. (This claim reads as ridiculous to anyone who has ever heard Supa Dupa Fly, an album that still sounds like time-traveler music.)  She didn't want to fall flat on her face while trend-chasing or release an album that was dated the second it dropped. Luckily for all of us, Missy recognized her own timelessness.

"For so long I was hesitant to put out music in fear no one would get it because people said music has changed & my sound been so different but NOW IM LIKE hey🤷🏾‍bump it make music that feels good to me😉let me get y’all asses dancing again," she wrote.

New Missy is coming in 2019, y'all. And it sure sounds (and looks) like Elliott is committed to the oddball pop-rap that made her famous. It's fair to get a little bit hyped.
