Stream Dave East and Styles P's Joint Project 'Beloved'

The LOX legend and Harlem's own link up for 13 tracks with guest appearances by Tish Hyman, Jazzy, and more.

Styles P and Dave East are from different parts of New York—Yonkers and Harlem—who represent two generations of hip-hop. To bridge the gap, the duo come together as equals to put on for the East Coast with their new joint project, Beloved.

For anyone missing the golden era of gritty New York rap, Beloved brings the best from that time period into the present. Over 13 tracks, Ghost and East go back and forth on several songs, harnessing their competitiveness as MCs to create some certified street bangers. Some of the album’s standouts include “Its Lit,” “Exotic Shit,” “Cut From a Different Cloth,” and “Load My Gun” featuring The LOX.

The production is handled by Chase N. Cashe, Scram Jones, and Styles P’s son Noah Styles under the name Rare Breed.

During an episode of Open Late With Peter Rosenberg, Styles and East talked about how the project came together.

“Honestly, I felt like it was one of them organic things,” East said. “This my favorite rapper from day one. So it was the forces that be. I guess it just brought us together. And once we got in the studio, that shit was clock work. We knocked it right out.”

Styles added about East: “Smart, great work ethic. A lot of energy. I think it’s gonna be hard to beat this one.” Check out the episode of Open Late up top.

East has been a workhorse in the studio, dropping Paranoia 2and Karma 2this year, while Styles is coming off G-Host that features the single, “Heat of the Night.”
