Earlier this year, NIGO® told Complex he considered Abloh's link-up with LV "a victory" for streetwear.

When Virgil Abloh first joined the Louis Vuitton team, he wanted to hold off on introducing a collaborations strategy so he could first firmly establish his own "point of view" on the iconic brand.

But now the time is right, as he explained to Vogue on Thursday, to tease what's ahead.

"Me being at Louis Vuitton is directly attributable to work Nigo's done in the past," LV's artistic director of menswear said of his impending capsule collection with A Bathing Ape founder NIGO®. "A collab project with him—it puts his work in the right context. He inspired me to do what I do. I thought it was a full-circle moment."

Aside from the fact that it will be a highly sought-after assortment of pieces, not much else is known about the impending collection, which is set for a mid-2020 release. Per a separate report from Hypebeast, LV is planning to include ready-to-wear, leather goods, footwear, and accessories in the capsule.

For a Complex cover story earlier this year, NIGO® and Kid Cudi addressed the importance of Abloh’s LV link-up.

Abloh becoming the brand's artistic director of menswear, NIGO® said, "felt like a victory" in more ways than one. "I'd consider that a success, like we finally earned it. I'm not responsible for creating streetwear alone," he added. "It's something we all played a part in, in building up the culture. It's finally bearing fruit."
