The Weeknd has released his first capsule collection for "On Thursday," which aesthetically highlights the different musical eras of his career. The thematic undertone that ties the collection together is the notion of paying homage to the past while developing the vision of the future.
While developing the eight-piece collection, the singer and his team reached out to two fan artists, Ayoob Ali and Abhidyu Sharma, on Instagram and asked them to collaborate on the capsule. The range of pieces, which include T-shirts, hoodies, long sleeves, zip-up jackets, and flannels, explore the range of references the Weeknd has debuted throughout his career, including those in Beauty Behind the Madness, Starboy, and My Dear Melancholy.
The artist's various musical achievements are organized by "Chapters" in the collection, likely in reference to the upcoming release of his album Chapter IV. Designed by XO, "On Thursday" is the Weeknd's second clothing drop of 2019, with the first being his Asia Tour merch in January. The latest collection maintains less graphics, and instead incorporates a more surrealist aesthetic.
The color palette ranges between each chapter and elicits a different emotion. From cartoonish drawings of the Weeknd to ethereal stencils of a young man, the new collection adds an artistic element not often used in album or tour merchandise. You can view the capsule's garments below.
