Dammit. It's the only reaction you can have for Caris LeVert of the Brooklyn Nets, who suffered a horrific right leg injury when he went up for the block on the Minnesota Timberwolves' Josh Okogie. If you can bare to watch it, head to the bottom of the page.

If you know about LeVert's journey to the NBA, then you can understand why his injury is so heartbreaking. In March 2016, LeVert, who was a senior at Michigan at the time, decided to sit out the remainder of the season to focus on recovering from a foot issue that he was dealing with for three months. In a matter of 22 months, the Columbus, Ohio native had to undergo three surgeries on his left foot.

The day before the 2016 NBA Draft, LeVert wrote an open letter to the league's general managers on The Players' Tribune, urging them to take a chance on him despite the red flags due to his string of injuries. The Nets ended up acquiring with the 20th overall pick in trade with the Indiana Pacers for Thaddeus Young. Brooklyn took a chance on him early when every other team had their reservations, and LeVert was finally becoming the player they had hoped he would become this season. He was averaging a career-high 19 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

Sight of Caris LeVert's leg injury in Minnesota shook everyone on court. He has rapidly emerged into the cornerstone player of Nets rebuild -- and been spectacular this season. He fought foot injuries at U of Michigan. He's been everything they've wanted in a young player.

Besides the fact that he’s having a fantastic season, Caris Levert is one of the nicest most genuine humans you’ll meet. Wishing for a speedy and healthy recovery!! Hate to see this happen to anyone.

Caris LeVert is as good and genuine of a dude as you think he is. Terrible, terrible, terrible to see tonight’s injury. This is a man who has perpetually climbed back from circumstances out of his control.

Caris LeVert has built himself into a legitimate top option this season -- a leader, a two-way game-changer, a player who was making the league stand up and take notice. Suffering a significant injury right as it was all coming together for him is downright cruel.
