Despite the fact that he's tried his best to steer clear of contentious topics throughout his 18-year career (at least for 17, since nobody wielding a mic gave a crap what he thought when he was Drew Bledsoe's backup) there have been a number of takes, many of them hot, written and spoken about Tom Brady, especially after he got caught with a MAGA hat in his locker last fall.

Still, despite his tendency to avoid hot button issues, the Patriots' long-time signal caller answered Norah O'Donnell's question on a portion of an interview that aired on Sunday a.m.'s CBS This Morning about whether or not he thinks Colin Kaepernick "can play in the NFL."

While that's certainly open-ended, and different than should he play in the NFL, Brady still stated his very clear wish for the far too frequently debated QB to get another shot in the sport's highest league.

"I sure hope so," he said. "I’ve always watched him and admired him, the way that he’s played. He was a great young quarterback. He came to our stadium and beat us and took his team to the Super Bowl in 2012. He accomplished a lot in the pros as a player and he’s certainly qualified. I hope he gets a shot."

While it's worth noting that he doesn't speak on the actual politics behind the national anthem protests in the clip (which, despite the aforementioned hot takes that insist he should, he doesn't actually owe anybody. He's a freaking quarterback for crying out loud!) he does appear to endorse Kaepernick as a player, which simultaneously endorses the widely held belief/pretty evident truth that he's being blackballed.

Brady's statement on Kaepernick comes the same week that the ex-Niners baller got A-list shout outs from: Chris Rock, Jay Zand Stephen Curry. Not bad company.

Oh, and also the entire interview with O'Donnell will air on Monday morning if you have any interest in it.
