Halloween is over, but one black catĀ apparently didn't get the memo.
The cat strolled on to the field at MetLife Stadium on Monday night, when the DallasĀ CowboysĀ took onĀ the New York GiantsĀ during Monday Night Football.Ā The game featured two of the NFL's best running backs inĀ Ezekiel Elliott andĀ Saquon Barkley, but their elusiveness was no match for the cat, who juked out several New Jersey state troopers before making a swift exit.
According to reporter Madelyn Burke, the cat wasn't a exactly anĀ intruder. The security at MetLife told Burke that theĀ feline is one ofĀ several stray cats that live inside the stadium. As of 10:44 p.m. ET on Monday, employees at MetLife were still looking for the cat. The stadium released a statement claiming itĀ will take the cat to the nearest "veterinarian for examination," once it'sĀ able toĀ corral the animal. "Apparently there are some resident stray cats at MetLifeā they usually come out after the game, people feed them, etc.," Burke tweeted. "They live in the bleachers, Iām told this one must have gotten startled out by fan noise."
The cat's presence was only upstaged by the myriad ofĀ reactions, as well asĀ Kevin Harlan's incredible play-by-play of the incident.
The cat's presence was alsoĀ bad luck for the home, Giants asĀ the Cowboys went on to aĀ commandingĀ 37-18 victory over New York.Ā
