The internet is disappointed Justin Bieber was in the stands at Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium and not sharing the stage with Halftime Show artist Usher.

The pair go way back to the beginning, when Usher appeared in Bieber's first music videos and served as his symbolic mentor into the business of pop superstardom.

Usher's performance had plenty of guests: H.E.R., Alicia Keys, Ludacris & Lil Jon, but no Biebs.

So close, yet so far. The NFL's official Twitter caught the Biebers, Justin and wife Hailey, vibing out to Usher's set.

Bieber not performing was the perfect chance to bring back the Weeknd halftime show meme from a few years ago.

Others lamented the lost opportunity of being able to see both on a stage again. Who knows if we'll ever get this close again?

Other commenters felt for all the crestfallen Bieliebers who thought a cameo might happen.

Some even joked about Usher's rollerskating routine.

And finally, you gotta bring out the angry smashing TV guy meme anytime things don't go the way you planned. Hopefully no one did that over Biebs last night.

Bieber has had his fill of sporting events the past two weeks. In addition to yesterday's Super Bowl, last week he was all over the NHL All-Star Game festivities in his hometown of Toronto. His contributions included designing the jerseys with his Drew House imprint, acting as celebrity co-captain, and performing a surprise set at History in Toronto, which is leading many to believe a comeback to music is coming soon.
