DK Metcalf responded to criticism from Shannon Sharpe regarding a late-game decision he made during a game between the Seahawks and Steelers on Sunday.
“What was D. K thinking? Why try to play hero in that situation?” Sharpe tweeted after Metcalf decided not to step out of bounds to stop the clock as the game was coming to an end, which some, including Sharpe, suggested was a bad move on his part.
“Stop questioning me lil boy [laughing crying emoji],” responded Metcalf on Monday.
From there, their interactions escalated with a response from Sharpe. “Nothing to question. That was ‘DUMB ASS’ play and your pride won’t let you admit it,” Sharpe wrote. “’You’ can’t question anything I’ve done. Pray your resume will be as complete as mine, PRAY. Enjoy the rest of your day [prayer emojis].”
Metcalf retweeted Sharpe’s most recent comments, and added, “From the looks of it I can wipe my [poo emoji] with yours! Continue to gossip you washed up wanna be.” Roughly an hour later, he tweeted again and appeared to backtrack, at least somewhat.
“You know what, you right,” he wrote. “@ShannonSharpe I do pray my resume can matchup with yours [prayer emoji] #WorkInProgressBaby.”
The Seahawks ultimately lost 23-20 in overtime.
