British boxer Kash Ali was disqualified during a heavyweight match for tackling and biting his opponent, David Price, on the abdomen Saturday. Referee Mark Lyson had docked Ali a point earlier in the match for hitting Price in the back of his head. Price was given a victory by default, with the referee immediately disqualifying Ali for his tactics.

The Guardian notes that Ali promised in interviews before the fight that he was going to "spark out" Price. "This is my time to show all the boxing people that I’m not here to mess about," the 27-year-old Birmingham boxer said. "Beating someone like David will put me straight in the mix. It’s a great opportunity to show my skills, and show that I’m a real contender."

Ali could face a lengthy ban for biting his opponent and will likely receive a fine. David Price said that Ali asked for a rematch after the fight, and he wasn't too happy about the idea.

"I don’t want to share the ring again with an animal like that," he explained. "He did a couple early on and I thought he had lost his head completely. I hurt him to the body just before the final bite he took."
