The Mets took a loss against the Phillies game on Sunday, but at least they walked away with a very memorable moment.
At the top of the eighth inning, Mets outfielder Rajai Davis tried to slide home for a score. He was too late and in an attempt to slide past the tag he ran straight into umpire Joe West's ankle. Of course, the impact brought West to his knees. Afterwards, the 66-year-old was having trouble getting off of Davis.
He even used Davis' back for leverage and a resting spot, yet he still wasn't able to get up. Eventually, Phillies pitcher, Hector Neris, got tired of watching West in agony and decided to come over to help the umpire to his feet.
The Mets themselves fell to 69-67 for the season.
