The Boston Celtics seemed pretty sure that Kyrie Irving wouldn't leave this offseason, but new reports indicate that the team is ready for a future where both Kyrie Irving and Al Horford become free agents.

That news comes via The Athletic's Shams Charania, who wrote on Twitter that the team is prepping for the worst-case scenario.

"The Boston Celtics are preparing for strong scenario that All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Al Horford will leave as free agents," he wrote. "Irving has been communicative and forthright with top Celtics officials since the season ended, with private and public signals that he will leave the organization in free agency — likely for the Brooklyn Nets."

Shams' scoop only confirms what the rumor mills have been saying for some time, that Irving has his heart set on landing in Brooklyn. Of course, the team will be sad to see their superstar go, but they did just make it through a strenuous year where Irving appeared very displeased with the team. That only brought out Irving's deep-seated weirdness. According to a recent report on The Herd, Irving allegedly asked coach Brad Stevens to define government at a morning meeting.
