On early Wednesday morning (Jan. 23), Saints defensive back P.J. Williams was arrested and allegedly driving while intoxicated.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, officers were driving on the Cresent City bridge when they stopped Williams for driving 80 mph in a 50 mph zone. During the traffic stop, police state Williams refused to adhere to a breath test leading police to book him on charges on that include driving while intoxicated, speeding, improper lane usage, careless driving, and failure to use a turn signal.

This is not the first time Williams has had issues with driving legally. In 2015, prior to entering the NFL, Williams was charged with driving under the influence by the Florida State University Police department. Also, in 2014, Williams was involved in a hit and run incident that got reduced to a traffic violation.

It is unclear what will be the outcome of Williams' latest run-in or if it will impact the defensive back's future with the NFL. After a consistent and productive season for the team that came up 1-win shy of the Super Bowl, Williams was heading into his unrestricted free agency with high hopes. But, now he has to wait and see if his DWI will hurt him when he goes to the negotiation table.

The New Orleans Saints have yet to issue a statement regarding William's arrest.
