The year 2018 was a big one for the world of sneakers that saw a ton of hyped-up and lucrative pairs hit the market. With the help of StockX, Highsnobiety took a look at 2018's biggest sneaker releases.

Unsurprisingly, the Air Jordan I was last year's best selling model on StockX, thanks in part to collaborations with the likes of Virgil Abloh, Union Los Angeles, and a host of non-OG colorways as well. Despite the Adidas Yeezy hype being "dead," the "Butter" Yeezy Boost 350 V2 was the best selling sneaker colorway of the entire year on the Detroit-based reselling platform.

Looking elsewhere, the Nike Air Mag was the most expensive sneaker sold on StockX last year and sold at an average price of $25,000. The most expensive pair sold that actually released in 2018 was the "Flight Jacket" Undefeated x Nike Zoom Kobe I Protro. Only 10 pairs of the design were released to the public to celebrate the opening of Undefeated Harajuku's Meiji Dori location. It sold for an average of $3,900 on StockX.

Conversely, the Air Jordan III JTH received the biggest price drop throughout the year. After originally releasing via a Nike SNKRS shock drop during Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl LII halftime show performance, the pair would see a wider launch that caused its value to decrease $975.
