UPDATED 3/27/23, 3:40 p.m. ET: Majors was charged with three counts of assault in the third degree, aggravated harassment in the second degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree, People has learned.
Per documents obtained by the outlet, Majors allegedly struck the woman “about the face with an open hand, causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear.” He also caused “bruising and substantial pain” by grabbing her hand and neck.
UPDATED 3/26/23, 2:00 p.m. ET: Majors’ lawyer Priya Chaudhry told BuzzFeed News that the woman in question recanted her statement about being physically assaulted. Further, Chaudhry claims that there’s video evidence which will prove that Majors is innocent.
The woman who originally said she was assaulted by Majors was having “an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday,” according to Chaudhry.

Jonathan Majors was arrested this weekend for an alleged assault on a woman.
According to TMZ, the 33-year-old actor was taken into custody Saturday morning in NYC, after an unidentified woman told police Majors had physically attacked her during a domestic dispute. Insiders told the outlet the accuser had visible injuries throughout her body, redness and marks on her face as well as a cut behind an ear. She was reportedly transferred to hospital and is said to be in stable condition.
Law enforcement sources said authorities responded to the incident at around 11 a.m. and arrested Majors without incident shortly after. The Creed III star was ultimately charged with misdemeanors—including two counts of assault in the third degree, and lesser charges of attempted assault in the third degree, aggravated harassment in the second degree, and harassment in the second degree; however, his team has denied the allegations.
“He’s done nothing wrong,” Majors’ representative told TMZ. “We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”
Majors’ exact relationship with the woman was initially unclear, but sources later identified the victim as his girlfriend. The woman allegedly told police she and the actor had gotten into an argument after leaving a Brooklyn bar. While making their way home, the girlfriend allegedly saw Majors texting another woman and quickly confronted him.
Sources said Majors then grabbed his girlfriend’s hand and slapped her, before putting his hands around her neck. The two reportedly spent the night apart, and the woman reported the attack the following morning.
“The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident,” according to the statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter.
The actor has kept the details of his personal life under wraps, and has not confirmed whether he is married or in a romantic relationship. He does, however, have a nine-year-old daughter, whom he’s mentioned in several interviews. Majors has shared little information about the child’s mother.
