Ms. Marvel, a new original series from Marvel Studios, has now given Marvel fans exactly one minute and 47 seconds of exciting pre-release footage ahead of its summer 2022 premiere.

The series focuses on Muslim American teen Kamala Khan (a.k.a. Ms. Marvel), played by Iman Vellani. Viewers will join Kamala as she manages to simultaneously traverse the perils of high school and the unique responsibility associated with arising superpowers.

Joining Vellani in the cast are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Matt Lintz, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, and more. Bisha K. Ali, whose previous credits include Loki and Four Weddings and a Funeral, serves as head writer on the series. Directors contributing to the first batch of episodes include Meera Menon, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Bad Boys for Life duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

Catch Ms. Marvel on Disney+ starting June 8. See the new trailer up top. Below, get a closer look at the latest MCU-expanding series thanks to some newly released stills and an official poster.

As Marvel fans will note, Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani will take on the title role once more for the upcoming film The Marvels, directed by Candyman’s Nia DaCosta. The Phase Four MCU entry is currently set for a February 2023 release.

Speaking with Inverse last October, DaCosta was asked about how she planned to challenge what can expected from a Marvel film. For DaCosta, who made her feature debut with the Tessa Thompson-starring Little Woods back in 2018, the key was to treat the film’s characters “as human beings and not necessarily as superheroes.”
