After years of anticipation among DC fans, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam feature is on the horizon.

Wednesday, the first official trailer for the film—directed by Jungle Cruise’s Jaume Collet-Serra—was unveiled. Catch the newly released glimpse, notably featuring a cinematically altered version of Ye and Jay-Z’s Watch the Throne cut “Murder to Excellence,” above.

Last summer, Johnson confirmed shooting had wrapped, calling the project the “hardest undertaking” of his career both physically and mentally.

“Worth every second,” he assured fans in a July-shared update. “Boundless gratitude to my 1,000+ crew members, actors, and director, Jaume Collet-Serra.”

At the 2021 edition of the annual DC FanDome event, attendees were given an early look at a scene from the film, which was previously slated to release this summer but ultimately delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. This scheduling shift actually marked the second such pushback for Black Adam following its originally scheduled drop date of Dec. 22 of last year.

Addressing the years of work that went into bringing the feature to life on Wednesday, Johnson—whose Seven Bucks Productions company with Dany Garcia worked alongside New Line Cinema, DC Films, and others—described the expected hit as a “passion project” that has “become my DNA.”

Black Adam hits theaters on Oct. 21. Joining Johnson in the cast are Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, Marwan Kenzari, and more.
