A new trailer for HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation has been released ahead of its January premiere.

The series, of course, is based on Naughty Dog and Sony’s 2013 game of the same name and stars Pedro Pascal as lead character Joel. As fans of the game already know, the story centers on Joel’s efforts to smuggle a teen girl out of a quarantine zone following the destruction of civilization.

The new trailer, available up top, gives fans a closer look at how the world of The Last of Us has been expanded for this format, including a tease of new characters not featured in the game.

Pascal is joined in the cast by Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nick Offerman, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Melanie Lynskey, and more. As previously announced, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker—who voiced Pedro and Bella’s characters in the original game and its sequel—also have parts in the series.

Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann write and exec-produce the new series, which is slated to premiere on Jan. 15 via HBO and HBO Max. The inaugural season of the series, co-produced by Sony Pictures Television, will span nine episodes. See the latest trailer up top.

Also in 2023, Pascal will be seen in the third season of The Mandalorian on Disney+. In September, a teaser trailer for the show’s return was unveiled amid Star Wars Celebration festivities in Anaheim. Revisit that here.
