Ali, whose previous credits include Loki and Four Weddings and a Funeral, serves as head writer on the series. As Marvel fans will note, Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani will take on the title role once more for the upcoming film The Marvels, directed by Candyman’s Nia DaCosta. The Phase Four MCU entry is currently set for a February 2023 release.
Speaking with Inverse last October, DaCosta was asked about how she planned to challenge what can expected from a Marvel film. For DaCosta, who made her feature debut with the Tessa Thompson-starring Little Woods back in 2018, the key was to treat the film’s characters “as human beings and not necessarily as superheroes.”
