The Stars of 'Creed II' Talk Building This 'Emotional' Sequel

'Creed II' stars Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson, and director Steven Caple Jr. break down one of this fall's most anticipated films.

In theaters now is Creed II, the sequel to the acclaimed 2015 spin-off of the Rocky franchise starring Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson. While Ryan Coogler is not back in the director's chair (although he is on as executive producer), up-and-coming director Steven Caple Jr. was hired on to steer this sequel onto the right path. Recently, Complex's own Speedy Morman headed to Philly with the team over at Fuse to speak with Jordan, Thompson, and Caple Jr. about the latest chapter in Creed's story.

One of the first things many people think of when they see Jordan as Adonis Creed is his physique; knowing that it's hard work getting that fit for this role can be daunting, but Jordan shared that he's "used to it" at this point. "It's part of the job, honestly. You know when you get in front of the camera, that's gonna be seen by everybody. It's done, it's immortalized, there's no taking it back. You gotta make sure everything's right." Jordan also spoke on being "humble" to be a part of this film and the franchise, which has turned into a cultural phenomenon.

Caple Jr. also spoke on how "surreal" it is to be a part of it but was also able to put his own stamp on this series. He also relished in the moments they had on set, and can't wait for fans to share them when they hit theaters.

Tessa Thompson calls the franchise "incredible," and speaks to the "staying power" of the franchise. Part of that is due to them not just being about boxing, but the stories about family and being the underdog that people have related to since the '70s.

You can check out the full video up above, and be sure to hit theaters to see Creed II, which is out now.
