Before he died from complications of surgery at the age of 78, legendary General Hospital actor Anthony Geary appeared to be enjoying married life with his husband Claudio Gama.
Gama frequently shared photos of their life together on Instagram. And he spoke out about his pain after Geary suddenly died. “It was a shock for me and our families and our friends,” Claudio Gama said to TV Insider. “For more than 30 years, Tony has been my friend, my companion, my husband.”
TVInsider did not provide a formal cause of death but did share that Geary's "death was the result of complications from a scheduled operation three days earlier." The couple lived in the Netherlands. The nature of the operation was not disclosed.
In late November, Gama wrote on Instagram, "Greetings to all it’s Saturday we are having a lovely day something chicken tomato rice me and Tony singing and dancing along to musicals."
Geary played the complicated and controversial Luke Spencer on the popular soap opera. His television wedding to the character played by actress Genie Francis had record ratings.
On October 17, Gama shared a photo and wrote, "Greetings to all from Amsterdam here is a lovely photo of me and my lovely little family wishing you all a happy weekend I am going to be very busy coming days have a lovely weekend and happy week stay safe and healthy."
On December 6, Gama wrote, "Greetings and happy Saturday to all it was a cold cloudy day here in Amsterdam I’ve been home all day with Tony and Max diner was something chicken one of my winter orchids as bloom in time for the holidays tonight early to bed feeling a little tired tomorrow’s diner is prepped and I plan to finish the Christmas decorations have a lovely weekend greetings from me and my boys stay warm healthy and safe."
Gama also posts about his life on a blog. His Instagram posts focus on his marriage, family, cat, home life, and food.
According to People, Geary and Gama moved to Amsterdam together after Geary retired in 2015 from General Hospital. They met 30 years ago and were married for six years, People reported.
