Teyana Taylor has addressed her boyfriend, actor Aaron Pierre, as his character in Mufasa before, but certainly not in the bedroom — at least, that's what she says.
Pierre starred as the titular character in the aforementioned Lion King prequel, which was released last December. The actor is currently in a relationship with Taylor, so she was asked about him during a lie detector test with her All's Fair costar Kim Kardashian for Vanity Fair. Pierre was famously called Mufasa during his viral 2024 stroll on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
Around the three-minute mark of the video below, Kardashian asked Taylor if she calls Pierre by the Disney character's name "in the bedroom," which the actress and singer laughed at.
"I have not called him 'Mufasa' in the bedroom," Taylor said, before being notified that the lie detector was picking up "some deception." As the American Psychological Association notes, polygraph tests are not an accurate method of detecting deception, and there is "little basis for [their] validity."
Taylor fessed up to calling Pierre by the Disney character's name elsewhere, but "never in bed," because it would be awkward.
"Only because I actually would feel cringe being like, 'Yeah, Mufasa.
Mu mu, take me to Pride Rock,' she continued. "I never called him 'Mufasa' in the bedroom, but yeah, we do make Mufasa jokes."
Taylor, who starred alongside Pierre in the Escape Room visual album, was married to professional basketball player Iman Shumpert from 2016 to 2024. The ex-spouses share two daughters, Junie, 9, and Rue Rose, 5. Pierre also has a son from a previous relationship.
Pierre and Taylor teased their relationship around the time her recent album was released, and in a new Men's Health interview, Pierre referred to his new girlfriend as "someone who I love."
In an interview with Complex's Jordan Rose in July, Taylor said that her relationship with Pierre makes her feel "calm."
"He’s very, very gentle. It allows me to feel warm and and to feel safe, and not be in survival mode," she said.
