Let the promo games begin. We're about eight months away from the release of Warner Bros' Suicide Squad, the DC comics movie firmly set around a group of high-profile villains forced into working for the government. It's the first comic book movie set around the bad guys and more importantly, the first in DC's new cinematic universe to feature Jared Leto as The Joker in this post Dark Knight world. Needless to say, anticipation is deafening and the buzz only got louder after an excellent first trailer dropped a few months ago. (To say nothing of the fact that it looks wildly better than the first movie due in DC's official linked-universe undertaking, Batman v Superman.)
The film only just wrapped back in August, but press is already beginning, with Empire magazine touting several exclusive covers each with a different Suicide Squad member. If the first two are any indication, the characters in this movie are going to be absolutely insane. Of course, The Joker got first reveal, with Jared Leto's take on the character looking miles away from Heath Ledger's iconic 2008 portrayal. Fam looks much more psycho rock star, Sid Vicious-esque, which is really the only way to go if they want to stand apart from Heath. Excerpts from Leto's interview are leaking, particularly his unorthodox approach to playing the Clown Prince of crime—like listening to 1920s gospel music and reading up on shamans:
Cover 2 goes to Cara Delevingne, who plays Enchantress, furthering her transition from model to genuine actress. Take a look at both covers below and check back in when more drop—obviously they have to give one to Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn.
