Apparently, James Corden has yet to see Catsbut he hasn’t heard good things about it.

The film, which stars him, Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Judi Dench and Ian McKellen, was a complete flop at the box office and has been widely criticized for its odd use of CGI.

According to The Independent, Corden, who plays Bustopher Jones in Tom Hooper’s adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, appeared on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 show and told her, “I haven’t seen it, I’ve heard it’s terrible.”

In the U.S., the movie grossed only $6.5 million during opening weekend, coming in No. 4 after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Jumanji: The Next Level, and Frozen 2. Cats was also a dud during its U.K. debut, where it made just £4.4 million. The film cost over $100 million to produce before marketing costs.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cats has made a daring move by becoming the “first event pic” that’s opened up against a modern-day Star Wars. They further cite that Cats' debut might not be as catastrophic as it sounds when compared to the film’s reported budget, as they wrote, “Two years ago, The Greatest Showman debuted to $8.8 million over Christmas on its way to grossing $174.3 million domestically.”

Still, early projections had Rise of Skywalker destroying Cats, and that’s precisely what happened. Deadline reports that the new Star Wars film made $175.5 million during its first three days.
