Get ready for the return of the "Flying V."

The long-rumored Mighty Ducks reboot at Disney+ is officially a go, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Gilmore Girls’ Lauren Graham and Good Boys’ Brady Noon are set to star in the 10-episode, half-hour update on the classic film franchise.

According to THR, the show takes place in present-day Minnesota, where the Mighty Ducks are actually the series’ villains, as the once sad sack youth hockey team has morphed into a powerhouse. When 12-year-old Evan (Noon) is cut from the team, he and his mom, Alex (Graham) start their own band of misfit players to compete with the Ducks. The show will go into production this month in Vancouver and premiere later this year.

Fans had mixed reactions to the news, especially with the Ducks taking on the villain role this time around.

This new series is going to be bad and there was absolutely no need to reboot the Mighty Ducks. https://t.co/JOC7Kz5xJn

Leave it to Lorelai Gilmore being the lead in order to get me to watch a Mighty Ducks series

Solid lead but what gets my attention is the premise; the titular Mighty Ducks are the villains. They become so ultra rich and powerful, they became the assholes they fought against. This is a really fucking good hook and really hold of Disney to go for this. https://t.co/2Mamuo2McQ

So there's a new #MightyDucks series coming to Disney+? If they don't have the original cast be a part of the show or at least make cameos, then I don't know this show. pic.twitter.com/gcqkXhIGPX

*Mighty Ducks getting a reboot*

Oh nice! DuckTales has really made cartoon ducks popular again.

*It's actually a reboot of the hockey live action movies*

Nevermind. Moving on.

*sees there will be a Mighty Ducks reboot*

Me: That's stupid. Stop remaking classics.

Many thoughts on the reboot of The Mighty Ducks. Lauren Graham is unimpeachable and should be protected and supported at all costs.

However, I can’t help but feel like making the titular Ducks the villains of the story is a particularly GOOD IDEA. pic.twitter.com/MZmGUtzVLP

Spoke with Steve Brill. Press release is coming but 10-ep. Mighty Ducks TV series is slated to start shooting next week. It’s slated for a September release. Emilio Estevez is IN. As is Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls). The pod with our full convo is to come. A LOT of great stuff.

BREAKING: EMILIO ESTEVEZ is in talks to reprise his role as Gordon Bombay in THE MIGHTY DUCKS series on Disney+. GOOD BOYS star Brady Noon will play the lead, and he'll be joined by GILMORE GIRLS star Lauren Graham.

While the initial announcement didn’t say anything about the franchise's original lead Emilio Estevez's involvement in the show,  the Quack Attack Podcast tweeted that “Estevez is in.” While the tweet can be taken with a grain of salt, the pod got the Graham news right before it was officially announced, so there's that.

Collider's Jeff Sneider also reported that Estevez is "in talks" to reprise his role.

The original film was a hit for Disney after its 1992 release, and spawned two sequels: 1994's D2: The Mighty Ducks and 1996's D3: The Mighty Ducks, as well as the namesake NHL team, the Anaheim Ducks.
