Nearly three years since the release of his last film UsJordan Peele returns with the official trailer for his next horror offering, Nope.

Scheduled to hit theaters on July 22, the Universal Pictures film features a stacked cast that includes Daniel Kaluuya, Steven Yeun, Keke Palmer, Barbie Ferreira, Brandon Perea, and Michael Wincott. Peele serves as writer, producer and director, with Ian Cooper also producing and Robert Graf serving as the executive producer.

Although plot details have been kept under wraps, as is usually the case with Peele’s movies, the trailer introduces Kaluuya and Palmer’s characters as horse trainers for Hollywood productions “who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery,” per the official synopsis.

“What’s a bad miracle? Do they have a word for that?” Kaluuya’s character wonders aloud, as their California ranch is suddenly set upon by a menacing cloud in the sky.

Nope comes on the heels of Peele’s first two films, 2017’s Get Out and 2019’s Us, both of which grossed over $250 million at the box office. Meanwhile, Get Out won Peele his first Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, while earning Kaluuya a Best Actor nomination.

Since the release of Us, Peele has produced several projects under his Monkeypaw Productions umbrella, including HBO’s Lovecraft Country in 2020 and last year’s long-awaited Candyman sequel.
