Square Enix just released a surprise demo for the Final Fantasy VII remake on PS4. Announced all the way back in 2015 during Sony's E3 conference, the game has been a long time coming. Set to exclusively launch on PS4 before possibly arriving on other platforms later down the line, gamers are finally getting a chance to get their hands on the remake of the 1997 Playstation original before it hits stores on April 10.
The demo, which is now available for free on PSN, lets players experience the first chapter of the game, following Cloud and Barrett as they embark on a mission to bomb Mako Reactor 1. With a reimagined combat system, the remake takes some liberties from the original in the gameplay department.
Since fans have been waiting years for a remake, as Square originally teased the idea during the PlayStation 2 era, the reaction on social media has been overwhelmingly positive so far. A few people have taken issue with some of the changes, but for the most part it's looking to be a faithful update to what is often regarded as one of the greatest games of all time.
