The Emmy-winning documentary series Making a Murdererwill return to Netflix in October, as the streaming service announced on Tuesday.

The highly anticipated second installment debuts on Oct. 19 and continues to tell the story of Steven Avery, who was convicted of sexual assault and attempted murder in 1985. After being absolved and released thanks to DNA evidence, Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey were convicted of murdering Teresa Halbach in 2005. In Part 2, the docuseries follows Avery, Dassey, and their legal teams as they attempt to fight the conviction.

The 10-episode follow-up series was announced back in February. “Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have once again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex web of American criminal justice,” creators Ricciardi and Demos told Variety through a joint statement. “Building on Part 1, which documented the experience of the accused, in Part 2, we have chronicled the experience of the convicted and imprisoned, two men each serving life sentences for crimes they maintain they did not commit. We are thrilled to be able to share this new phase of the journey with viewers.”

Part 2 comes three years after the true crime marvel first bowed in 2015. Because the series was so popular, Avery's case has played out in real time in the press. This season will certainly bring more details to light, but so far we know Circuit Court Judge Angela Sutkiewicz previously denied Avery's request for a new trial almost a year ago. We also know that the U.S. Seventh Circuit of Appeals ruled Dassey’s confession was not coerced, and he remains behind bars
