Watch John Krasinski and David Ortiz Surprise Boston Healthcare Workers

The surprise took place during an episode of the 'Office' alum's new YouTube show 'Some Good News.'

Healthcare workers everywhere are putting their lives on the line to help flatten the curve and end the coronavirus pandemic. This prompted actor John Krasinski and Red Sox legend David Ortiz to praise local hospital employees.

During a new episode of his new YouTube show Some Good News, the Boston native and star of The Office surprised workers at Boston's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with a chance to meet Big Papi.

"Baseball is America's sport for a reason: It brings us all together," Krasinski said, per E! News. "And for me, and I'm sure a lot of you, the calendar just doesn't really feel the same until that opening day pitch is thrown out. Well, last week was supposed to be opening day for almost every major league team and that loss was felt by everyone. And even in the midst of 24-hour shifts and sleepless nights, our healthcare heroes were missing baseball too."

Ortiz and Krasinski set up a virtual chat with BIDMC's COVID-19 response team. Ortiz thanked the workers, who are Red Sox fanatics.

"I gotta tell you guys from the very bottom of my heart how much I love you and respect you for what you guys are doing. Taking your lives, taking your time, that's something...it goes beyond everything," Ortiz said.

He didn't stop there. To compensate them for their hard work, Ortiz and the Red Sox gifted the employees with lifetime tickets. Krasinski escorted them to the legendary Fenway Park where the workers ran the bases and received a message of gratitude from the City of Boston. They were also informed that they will each get an opportunity to throw out the first pitch of the 2020 MLB season.
