Jussie Smollett's hate crime case has dominated headlines throughout 2019 and taken multiple unexpected turns. Yet, the actor insists that he didn't lie about what happened.

Smollett recently slid into the Shade Room's comments where he defended himself from a comment that likened the fake story of a Virginia teen being bullied because of her dreadlocks to Smollett's alleged attack.

"With all due respect brother, y'all can clown me all you want but my story has actually never changed and I haven't lied about a thing," Smollett replied to the user. "Y'all can continue to be misinformed, internalized sheep, who believe what actual proven liars feed you or you can read the actual docs. Either way, I'mma be alright. I know me and what happened. You don't. So carry on. All love."

Currently, Smollett is engaged with a legal back and forth with the city of Chicago. Chicago has filed a $130,000 lawsuit against the actor to recoup the money that was spent investigating the alleged attack. Smollett has threatened to counter sue the city and has also requested that the lawsuit be moved to a federal court.
