Power is going out with a prolonged bang.

During the Television Critics Association Summer 2019 Press Tour, Starz's president of programming, Carmi Zlotnik, announced that the final season of the show will air in two parts. Season 6's first 10 episodes will premiere on Aug. 25, while the final five comes in January.

Along with this news, Starz executive producers 50 Cent and Courtney A. Kemp continued detailing their plans to expand the Power universe. This includes various prequels and sequel series like Power Book II: Ghost, which will introduce Mary J. Blige to the franchise as a star.

Blige acting career has been going strong recently. Her performance on Mudbone earned her two Oscar nominations for Best Original Song and Best Supporting Actress. Blige has also inked an exclusive first-look television deal with Lionsgate Television to produce and developed a new series through her Blue Butterfly productions company. She has also been given the freedom to create content for all of Lionsgate's platforms.
