Many Game of Thrones fans were dissatisfied with how the fantasy epic ended this spring. In fact, someone even made the effort to create a petition asking HBO to remake the final season, amassing over 1.6 million signatures. The show hosted its final Comic-Con panel on Friday, and once again, the cast members were subjected to questions regarding that severe backlash to Season 8.
Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Conleth Hill, John Bradley, Maisie Williams, Jacob Anderson, Liam Cunningham, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau didn't shy away from the infamous petition.
"Of course HBO are going to change the whole thing," Coster-Waldau joked when the subject came up. "That's the power of the internet."
"When it comes to the end it's going to piss you off no matter how it ends, 'cause it's the end," the actor who plays Jaime Lannister added. "Just don't call people names."
Lord Varys actor Conleth Hill previously expressed that the "last few seasons weren't my favorite," and joked that he was the one behind the petition.
"I don’t regret starting the petition," he said to laughs. "You look at the amount of people that are here.... We’re very grateful for your fandom over the years and I think this is the reality rather than a media-led hate campaign."
The panel didn't all focus on the negativity, however, as the actors were asked to choose their favorite moments from the show. They also quipped about what the characters are all up to now the main story is over. "I'm sure she's having a wonderful time," Williams said of her character Arya Stark. "She's like Dora the Explorer with her new bob."
