James Gunn was tapped to takeover director and writer duties for DC's Suicide Squad sequel shortly after he was fired from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Just recently it was reported that Will Smith would be exiting the sequel, but Idris Elba would likely be replacing him as Deadshot. Now, Collider has published a list of characters they think Gunn plans to introduce in the sequel, and they sound perfect for his distinct style of comedy.

Among the characters Gunn might have planned for the sequel are Ratcatcher, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, and Peacemaker. Sources close to Gunn say that he's hoping to get Dave Bautista for the role of Peacemaker, a character who claims to be pacifist despite being incredibly violent.

It's unclear who Gunn has in mind for the other characters listed, but from the sounds of it, there's a lot of exciting potential. Polka-Dot Man, perhaps the silliest character of the bunch, is an enemy of Batman who grows polka dots all over his body that he can turn into fireballs and numerous other attacks. King Shark, meanwhile, is a pretty straightforward character, similar to that of Killer Croc in the previous film.

Ratcatcher is also an enemy of Batman's, although reports indicate they'll be gender-swapped in the upcoming adaption. She's accompanied by an army of rats and often employs poisonous gas.

Warner Bros. is aiming to release the Suicide Squad sequel on Aug. 6, 2021.
