On October 5, 2018, Bradley Cooper makes his directorial debut with A Star Born, which he also produces and stars in alongside Lady Gaga, Andrew Dice Clay, Sam Elliott, and Dave Chappelle. The film (which is the third remake of the 1937 classic) finds Cooper playing Jackson Maine, a singer-songwriter who's already successful and already suffering from the excess of being on top. He meets, and later mentors, a young singer, Ally (portrayed by Gaga), and the film follows their relationship through the highs and lows.
The film is already getting buzz, with everything from Cooper and Gaga's performances to the music from the film getting praise. That said, it's always dope to see someone like Chappelle playing against type. Sure, he's been acting since the early '90s, but the majority of his performances have been more comedy. Seeing him as Jackson's close friend Noodles in A Star Is Born has us wondering what else Chappelle has up his sleeve, acting-wise.
