After delivering his 10th studio album Donda last year, Ye has already begun creating the follow-up.
“Ye has started working on his new masterpiece DONDA 2,” Steven Victor exclusively told Complex.
If the artist formerly known as Kanye West sticks with the title, it’ll be the first time he’s released a sequel to one of his albums. Donda was certified gold in September.
A major industry figure and SVP of A&R at Universal Music Group, Victor has worked extensively with Ye and previously held the title of COO at G.O.O.D. Music.
There’s no word on when fans can expect to hear more about Donda 2, but the Victor Victor Worldwide founder’s use of the word “masterpiece” certainly indicates it’ll be worth the wait. Just last week a video surfaced online showing Ye in the studio with Scarface, and fans will also be eager to see if he reunites with Drake on wax following the squashing of their beef and the icons’ subsequent Free Larry Hoover concert together.
Ye released Donda on Aug. 29, 2021, with its rollout characterized by several high-profile delays. He hosted three public listening events for the album in July and August, and the record failed to materialize after each one until it appeared on streaming services at the end of the month.
