UPDATED 4/15, 2:45 p.m.: DaBaby has confirmed he was the shooter.

Friday on Instagram he shared a clip of Cam’ron’s classic Paid in Full line, “N***as get shot every day, B. You’ll be aight, n***a. You tough right?”

DaBaby captioned the post, “Chose not to take a n***a life the other day & it felt great.👍🏾 Buddy ain’t deserve to go, I step righteously. Heal up & live my boy! Just don’t bring ya ass back💥.”

TMZ, citing law enforcement sources, wrote that the Better Than You artist “exchanged words with an intruder and shot the man in the leg.” He then reportedly phoned 911 and “was cooperative with cops when they arrived.”

WSOC-TV released audio of the emergency call. “He’s trespassing on my property. … I don’t know what he’s here for, what he here to take, what he here to do, but he’s shot in his leg, he’s neutralized until you guys get here,” the caller says.

A person who is said to have been trespassing was shot outside DaBaby’s home in North Carolina, according to a local report.

Per WCCB, police say the shooting in question took place “near the football field” on the Troutman property. In a public statement, the Troutman Police Department said officers responded around 7:45 local time to a report of a shooting at a property Page Six later reported was “DaBaby’s estate.”

Once on the scene, police said, they found an unidentified individual who was “suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.” The person was then taken to a nearby hospital.

“On 04/13/2022 at around 1945 hours officers with the Troutman Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 135 Stillwater Road,” police stated. “Officers arrived on scene where they found one subject suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The subject was transported by Iredell County EMS to a medical facility for treatment. Due to the ongoing and continuing nature of this investigation, no information as to the names of those involved or the circumstances can be released at this time. This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community at large.”

Complex has reached out to a rep for the Troutman Police Department for additional comment. In a TMZ report shared on Thursday, it’s claimed that DaBaby “was home” at the time of the shooting. Furthermore, law enforcement sources are said to have told the publication that he “was involved in the incident” itself, although the report makes clear that the exact level of any alleged involvement has not been confirmed.

At the time of this writing, DaBaby had not publicly commented on the situation. The Donda-featured Grammy nominee last month released the YoungBoy Never Broke Again collab project Better Than You, which he compared to Jay-Z and the artist formerly known as Kanye West’s 2011 team-up Watch the Throne.
