SNOOP DOGG BUYS BIG OWNERSHIP IN ICE CUBE'S BIG3 LEAGUE

Snoop Dogg continues to diversify his investment portfolio.

According to TMZ, the hip-hop mogul has just purchased a minority ownership stake in Bivouac—one of the teams in Ice Cube’s BIG3 basketball league. Snoop reportedly made the purchase in partnership with PayPal co-founder Ken Howery. The two put down a total of $625,000 to buy a 40 percent stake in the team, which struggled last season after a series of injuries.

Snoop and Howery’s purchase was made exclusively through NFTs. The Death Row boss hinted at the investment in a video last month, as Cube urged Discord members to get in on the action.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Snoop, Ken, and their communities on board with the BIG3,” Cube said in a statement. “Having someone with Ken’s knowledge and experience wanting to be a part of our league demonstrates that we are moving in the right direction. Snoop is an undisputed legend who has jumped headfirst into the Web3 space and clearly understands the importance and the value of what we are trying to create. Together, I know they will take Bivouac to new heights and we can’t wait to get started.”

The BIG3 announced his new NFT-driven ownership model last month, “offering ownership-like benefits via two-tier options comprising 12,000 editions – 1,000 for each of the league’s twelve teams that include 25 Fire priced at $25,000 each and 975 Gold priced at $5,000 each.” The rest of the editions will be available at 11 a.m. ET Saturday, May 7 for select Discord members. The public will have a chance to purchase the remaining editions at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday.

“The BIG3 is on the leading edge of enabling blockchain technology as utility,” Howery said. “The league’s embrace of NFTs as ownership rights is both visionary and practical; key features of every smart investment.”

Cube founded the three-on-three league in 2017 alongside Jeff Kwatinetz. The league currently has a dozen teams, and includes a mix of former NBA and international players, like Bivouac’s Josh Smith and Will Bynum. The BIG3’s fifth season will begin on June 18.

Remaining editions will be available come Saturday, May 7 for hungry Discord members. Big3 action starts on June 18 and now it will have a healthy dose of Snoop Dogg.
