Just months after he was arrested following a drunken altercation at a Florida police station, Delonte West appears to be eyeing a return to basketball.

On Thursday, an encouraging video of the former NBA player playing basketball surfaced on social media, with West in the gym practicing his shooting stroke.

TMZ Sports reports that the 38-year-old is training for a basketball comeback, with hopes to play in Ice Cube’s BIG3 league. A source told the outlet that West has spent the past month training at the Pat The Roc Basketball Academy in Maryland.

Meanwhile, West has reportedly also “been speaking to the kids at the academy and shelling out advice on hoops,” TMZ pointed out.

The news arrives just months after West was arrested in October for allegedly getting into a drunken altercation with Boynton Beach police. Prior to the incident, things had been looking up for the former NBA veteran.

Back in January 2021, it was reported that West got a job at the rehabilitation center he previously attended.

Update on Delonte West: West now has a job at the Rebound therapy center in Florida, which is the rehab facility he attended.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reunited West with his mother in September and has stayed in close contact.

“Update on Delonte West: West now has a job at the Rebound therapy center in Florida, which is the rehab facility he attended,” NBA insider Shams Charania tweeted at the time. “Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reunited West with his mother in September and has stayed in close contact.”

Cuban came to the former Mavericks guard’s aid after images of him circulated on social media in 2020. Hopefully his attempt at a basketball comeback is a sign of more positive things to come.
