Lil Wayne’s love for skateboarding has spanned over a decade.

Now, the New Orleans native has officially become a pro. The honor was bestowed upon him this week, when his videographer for Young Money Skate, Phil Lopez, gifted Weezy his first pro model board. The moment was captured on camera, and pro skaters Torey Pudwill, Keelan Dadd, and Yosef Ratleff were also present for the surprise moment.

“This was a Christmas gift, but I decided to turn it into a surprise because it would be more meaningful that way,” Lopez said in a video. “As Wayne’s videographer, I wanted to do something special for him that he’d remember. I approached Torey, owner of Thank You Skate Co., with the board design, and he was able to help execute the production process.”

Wayne was visibly shocked and smiling from ear to ear when receiving his custom board. Designed by RX Philly, the black skateboard includes a photo of Wayne from his childhood and some of his favorite rap lyrics.

Wayne has been having a good holiday season. Earlier this month, he earned his first RIAA diamond certification for his 2008 hit song “Lollipop.” He partnered with Wilson for Weezy Christmas, where he welcomed 150 New Orleans teens to a local Dave & Buster’s to play arcade games and take home new sports equipment.
